Tied on Top was created by, in our opinion, the best mother daughter duo. We embrace the craziness of day to day life, and the crazy hair days that follows. Tied on Top offers a remedy for any crazy hair day, no matter the situation. Feeling good and looking good is our #1 priority!
How is Tied on Top for YOU?
Tied on Top is a mother daughter based company. My mom and I to be exact! I have the craziest naturally curly hair ever. It's a miracle if I wake up and my hair doesn't look like I've been electrocuted. Seriously! One summer day in particular, I woke up to probably my worst hair day to date. Having naturally blonde curly hair is a struggle all on its own, but learning how to style it without damaging it is a whole new level. I was complaining about all of these things to my mom when she said, “Why don't you try using a hair tie?” I thought to myself… “yea, why don't i try that?” That way, I wouldn't have to use heat on my hair every day, but I would be less nervous about what other people thought about my natural hair. So, I tried it. And guess what… I loved it! That day changed my life! I then started to explore more hair accessory options. I wanted every hair accessory possible. After about a month of learning to style a few accessories, people started asking where I was buying these, and how I styled them. That's when the thought came to me. Why don't I start selling these? I love them, so there's a good chance everyone else will also love them. Soo, that day I started to make them. We started small, with just hair ties. It was the week before the 4th of July. Why not make a good deal out of it? We decided to go with - buy 3 get the 4th one free. We thought that would help us sell out of these seasonal ties faster, and it would bring in more customers. We were so right! We sold out within hours, which left us scrambling back to the fabric store to try and make more ties as fast as we could. People loved them! Once the 4th of July was over, we talked about how we could continue this business. If people loved our red white and blue collection so much, wouldn't they love other collections just as much? We decided to give it a shot.
Our next collection was the summer breezes collection. This collection was the definition of summer for me. We had a pink gingham, faded denim floral, eyelet white, multicolored baby stried, colorful floral, and a few other ties in this collection. We were kind of just shooting in the dark at this point. We knew that people loved our last collection, but were those people going to be continuous customers at Tied on Top? We were about to find out.. This collection sold out so fast, which left us scrambling back to the fabric store once again. We made double for this collection, and we still didn't have enough. It was the best feeling to know that our customers loved these as much as my mom and I did. Customers had started sending in pictures of them wearing their ties everywhere. From the beach, to the zoo, to disneyland. There's a tie for every occasion. Seeing my goals come to life was so fun! We then started talking about what our next collection could be.

At this point, the seasons were transitioning from summer to fall. Fall fashion is dreamy. I love it most of all, so I really ran with this one. Fallin’ for you was launched. We created mustard yellow and gray flannel, warm toned florals, denim, and velvet for this collection. We had also decided that once styles were sold out, they were gone for good. We wanted to give our customers a reason to want to get ties that were special, that not everybody could get. Once again, this collection surprised us and sold out within a half hour. We were shocked! We had no idea people would love our products this much. After this collection had sold out, it really got us thinking. What if we started offering other accessories, not just strictly hair ties? Scrunchies were just starting to get big. Our initial thought was to make scrunchies. A plain old scrunchie, you could get that anywhere! We added our own twist, and started working on Tiny TIes.
Tiny ties are just as useful as a scrunchie, with some added sass. These have a bow attached to the scrunchie. No matter where you wear these, or how you style them, you always look ready. I love these! We created cheetahs, a few different colored velvets, black and white baby polka dots, and a burnt orange corduroy in our first tiny tie collection. These continue to be our best sellers! People absolutely love these! The thing that people love most is how versatile they are. You can style them so many different ways.
We then branched out a bit more, and started to figure out how we could start creating harder headbands, the kind that you just need to slip on your head and youre good to go. It doesn't get easier than that. These guys took a little bit longer to really master. After a few weeks of trial and error, we launched our Knots collection. These are good for all ages, and look good with seriously any style! We offered baby polka dot, blue and white gingham, black and white gingham, leopard, and mustard yellow knots. These have sold out so many times, and people keep wanting more! I have a pile of my own that I keep and wear at least once a week. If I had to choose I would say these are my favorite products that we offer.
